Golden Summit · Camp 3 · Sea of Clouds
Market psychology
When you climb out the far side of the canyon, the clouds spread out under your feet like a sea. Sounds rise from the valleys below: joy, panic, the roar of the crowd. Here you'll learn to read the emotions that move price, and the marks they leave on the chart.
The camp's rules
- 01
The emotion cycle: hope → optimism → euphoria → anxiety → denial → fear → capitulation → hope. At any point in a trend, the crowd is living through one of them.
- 02
Euphoria: an accelerating rally, green candles getting bigger, the moment everyone buys so as "not to miss it." It's usually close to the top. Don't chase it.
- 03
Capitulation: an accelerating drop, the biggest red candle, a long lower wick. The last sellers are getting out. It may be the start of a reversal, but you don't buy until structure shows up.
- 04
After euphoria or capitulation, you trade once structure forms: a lower high and a break, or a higher low and a break.
- 05
Choppy market: wide candles swinging up and down, no structure. The emotions haven't found a direction. Here, the best trade is to wait.

The emotion cycle
Hope, optimism, euphoria, anxiety, denial, fear, capitulation, and hope again. Price goes through this cycle over and over, on small scales and large.
The two most expensive moments: buying at the peak of euphoria and selling at the bottom of capitulation. Both times, the crowd is wrong at the very moment it's most sure.

Two extremes
The signature of euphoria: an accelerating rally and the biggest green candle in the run. After it, there are no buyers left.
The signature of capitulation: an accelerating drop, the biggest red candle in the run, and its long lower wick. The last sellers get out, and buyers step in underneath.

Volatility isn't direction
Wide candles and fast turns look like a big opportunity. But if there's no structure (higher lows, lower highs, a clear range), there's no edge either.
In a market like this, your stop is either too close (an ordinary swing takes it out) or too far (the lot shrinks and the ratio falls apart).
If you can't read the structure, the best trade is to wait. The chop ends, and one side finds a direction.

Sea of Clouds exam
Recognize the emotion, wait for the structure.
Test yourself
You've spotted the capitulation candle. Do you buy right away?
- ✓ No. First I wait for a higher low and a break
- · Yes. This is the bottom
- · No, I sell: the drop is still going
Capitulation can be the start of a reversal, but it isn't proof. The proof is structure: a higher low and a break of the last peak.
Which of these is a sign of a choppy market?
- ✓ Wide candles, frequent changes of direction, neither higher lows nor lower highs
- · A calm range with small candles
- · A steady climb with pullbacks
High volatility, no structure: a choppy market.
